Background
WARYT Mulutila International PLC, which in short known as “WARYT” is a company established in 1990 by the members of the WARYT family and legally registered by The Ministry of Trade and Industry in a registration number አአ/ግማ/1//238/82. It is currently engaged in Import, Manufacturing, Distribution and Representation of local and foreign companies. Today, the company has an equity capital of over 50 million Birr.
The founder, major shareholder and the today’s Chief Executive Director of WARYT Mulutila International P. L. C, Mr. Legesse Zerihun, BA and MSC in finance, was a management staff of AMCE/IVECO in Ethiopia working as a Financial Manager and later as a Commercial and Service Manager before establishing WARYT and joining thr business world aggressively.
The primary business idea that convinced the family was opening a Fuel Station. Mr. Legesse has contacted the oil companies that were controlling fuel station activities in the country, of which MOBIL Oil East African Ltd. gave a green light. MOBIL identified alternative locations on the Haile Gebresellassie Avenue, from Meskel square to Megenagna, and offered Mr. Legesse to try to acquire the land of any of the four alternative locations for which they promised to assist. Mr. Legesse, his wife Mrs. Mulushewa and his younger brother Mr. Tilahun were doing all their level best to possess one of the sites identified by MOBIL Oil East African Ltd..
Soon after, one of the sites favored by MOBIL was obtained from the Municipality of Addis Ababa and they formed Mulutila International P.L.C. the name Mulutila has been derived Mulu from Mulushewa and Tila from Tilahun. It has been founded with seven shareholders of the same family. Then, the land was acquired and construction of the fuel station with a four story building along with its adjacent ground plus one building was started. On the completion of the B + G + 4 story building on September 1992, they had to name the building and the name Waritu, the mother of Mr. Legesse, came in to picture and was chosen unanimously by all the shareholders. Waritu, in order to have a dynamic motto to stimulate the business environment, the vowel ‘i’ was changed into ‘y’ with an omission of the ‘u’ at the end and resulted to be WARYT also serving as an abbreviation of “Work And Reach Your Target”. Hence, the company name was also modified as “WARYT Mulutila International P.L.C”.
Today, WARYT is widely known for its import and distribution of Quality Household and Office Furniture, Water Purifiers with Dispensers, and the WARYT CERAGEM. The CERAGEM is truly WARYT’s gift to the society. Since its introduction to Ethiopia, CERAGEM has been reported to bring back many compatriots to the rhythm of life after years of nerve related problems and paralysis. Not only Ethiopia but also Africa owes WARYT as it introduced the CERAGEM service for the first time in the continent. WARYT CERAGEM is serving the society for free in the centers it established in many parts across the country.
WARYT is enjoying a stable and lasting growth so far with the wise leadership of its management composed of the Chief Executive Director, the General Manager, and other dedicated management members. The WARYT CERAGEM free service, the millennium scholarship to the 10th grade students of the rural areas based on Result Based Collaboration [RBC], and the new 7 story building which is about to be completed are hits in the success story of WARYT International. It is also blessed in having two sister companies – TadiZer P.L.C and WARYT Wood Works, the later being specialized in manufacturing kitchen cabinets, doors, and cupboards. WARYT is contributing to the national growth at least as being one of the good tax payers, also in assisting more than 200 families, through its dedicated employees, and is fulfilling its societal obligations through its own program of RBC with Governmental and Non Governmental Organizations, and offering products that positively affect the society’s health and wellbeing. Thus, WARYT has gained good image and credibility both Nationally and Internationally.
